New Learners are Game Designers: Video Game Design with Scratch

Sophie Idromenos is, currently, a User Interface Engineer at New York Media and has almost a decade of experience designing & implementing cross-browser websites/applications using the latest technologies.  Sophie combines her technical expertise & Masters in Computer Science, with experience in pedagogy to provide students with authentic learning experiences. As an active promoter of Computer Science, she built a “state-of-the-art” technology program for dyslexic & autistic students, grades 1st -12th at a private school, which developed students’ higher-level learning through collaborative, cross-curricular, new media project-based units on graphic, web, game design, CAD, video, 2D/3D animation. Especially in recent years, Sophie continues to affect change in education by both attending and presenting at professional conferences, which are well attended, often with standing room only.
